Thank you for visiting my blog! Abigail and Spot are sisters from the same litter and are about 2 1/2 years old. Ashley

    Hi Abraham,

Thank you for visiting my blog! Yes, Spot and Abigail can run faster than when they were puppies! Some dogs do bite each other in dog teams, but it is not common. Yes, I am in school until May 23rd. Thanks, I hope I can get into the Iditarod, too! Ashley

  21. adminon 01 Apr 2012 at 11:39 am

    Hi Kristen,
Thanks for visiting my blog! Both Abigail and Spot are girl dogs. If I am running Abigail and Spot only, I mush about 2 miles at this time. If I am running a five or six dog team, I will mush 8-12 miles. The time varies on training depending on the day and the distance. I think it’s fun having dogs! Ashley

    Hi TJ,
Thanks for visiting my blog! Dog training is somewhat hard work, but it is fun! Mushers eat and drink lots of things even whale blubber! I like to eat bacon, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and drink apple juice when I am mushing! I am looking forward to the Junior Iditarod Race! Ashley

    Hi Harlee,

Thank you for visiting my blog! Abigail and Spot live in a big dog run and play together. Also, they are put on long leads to run and play in the snow and sunshine. They love to play! Ashley

    Hi Braydon,

Thank you for visiting my blog. Joe Reddington, Sr. started the Iditarod Race. It depends on what the injury is, if it is serious the musher will be scratched from the race and all the musher, dogs and supplies will be flown to Anchorage. If a dog gets hurt, the musher can drop the dog at a checkpoint and it will be flown to Nome or Anchorage and given vet care. I am attending public school this year. Abigail does not like mushing through tunnels, otherwise she behaves most of the time! I will try to find out why the race is named Iditarod from my extensive collection of Iditarod books! Ashley

    Hi Jamie,

Thank you for visiting my blog. I want to win the Iditarod Race! I am the first in my family to dog mush, but hopefully, not the last. My younger siblings take turns dog mushing with me. The trails were made by Alaska Natives and Gold Miners. When the Iditarod was started, there was extensive trail recovery because the trails had grown over with brush and a few new sections were added. Huskies have been used due to their ability to withstand cold weather and run long distances. Not all teams are huskies, some are Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes. Ashley

    Hi Ian,

Thank you for visiting my blog! I got my sled as a birthday present. I took care of our family beagle to prove to my parents that I could take good care of a dog of my own. I worked on a friend’s farm one summer and he gave me two huskie puppies. I know all this stuff from reading books, watching movies and talking to mushers. We had record snow fall this year!!! I don’t how many feet but, it is a lot! Our yard is still full of snow on April 1st! Ashley

    Hi Shykira,

Thank you for visiting my blog! Mushers can get sick while racing the Iditarod. Dallas Seavey, winner of the 2012 Iditarod received $50,400 plus new truck valued over $40,000! Ashley
